Mitterfeldalm
The Mitterfeldalm is situated on the sunny terrace of the Hochkönig in a dreamlike location at the foot of the imposing almond walls and is open from 13 May to 31 October. It offers a magnificent panoramic view from the Tennengebirge to the Hohe Tauern - an impressive and unforgettable sight for everyone.
The Mitterfeldalm is a traditional alpine farm. 14 dairy cows graze up here and give us very valuable, tasty alpine milk, which we process ourselves into cheese, sour milk, butter and curd. Furthermore, there are many calves, some horses, rabbits and calves on summer holiday with us.
Our alpine pasture is the starting point for wonderful hiking and climbing tours and is the last place to stop before the Hochkönig. It was newly renovated in 2006 and has remained true to its original character of an alpine hut. 25 campsites are prepared for you.
There are various ways to reach the Mitterfeldalm:
The shortest and easiest ascent starts at the Arthurhaus (1503m), which lies above the local community of Mühlbach am Hochkönig in the district of Pongau. The trail initially climbs gently at the foot of the almond walls for about 180 metres in altitude with a walking time of about 40 minutes to the Mitterfeldalm.
From Werfen from the Reitsamerhof inn, via the Höllental valley along the Almenweg trail approx. 3.5 - 4 hours.
From Bischofshofen, Gainfeldtal from the Seidlwiesen car park approx. 3 hours.
